"Bright red with an intense garnet hue. The nose opens on pronounced fresh red fruit aromas, followed by an array of ripe red and black fruit such as raspberry and blackberry. From a round and full attack on attractive red fruit, the very expansive mid-palate reveals an array of red and black fruit flavours that linger on the succulent finish."

"Baron Philippe de Rothschild's winemakers have decided to combine the two terroirs that offer the best conditions for this early variety. The mediterranean terroir combines gravelly soil with a hot climate tempered by sea breezes to give wines with concentrated,super-ripe fruit flavours, body and substance. The oceanic terroir moderates this richness: with a damp climate tempered by hot spells and deep, predominantly clay-limestone soil, its wines bring out merlot's fresher notes."
