Ramón Bilbao is a renowned Spanish winery based in Rioja, known for producing high-quality wines that blend tradition with innovation. Established in 1924, the winery specializes in crafting elegant, complex wines, with a focus on Tempranillo grapes. Their top-tier wine, Mirto, is made from old vines in select vineyards and is produced only in exceptional years, reflecting the excellence and craftsmanship that define the Ramón Bilbao legacy.
The grapes come from selected vineyards in various villages near Haro, at altitudes between 450 and 700 meters. The soils are low in fertility and mostly sandy, with low water retention.
The grapes were carefully selected, and the wine was fermented in wooden vats at a controlled temperature of 27-28ºC using natural yeasts. It was aged for 15 months in new French oak barrels, followed by 10 months in bottles in an underground cellar.
The winter was marked by very cold temperatures, snow, and heavy rainfall, including the "Filomena" phenomenon in January. The summer was warm and dry, with some rain before the harvest, leading to a wide range of conditions.
This Limited Edition Garnacha offers vibrant red fruit, subtle oak, and a soft, velvety texture, with freshness from high-altitude vineyards in Rioja Oriental.
