Wine and Food Pairing
As the lockdown eases we want to celebrate the fact that some of our favourite restaurants in the UK are beginning to open.
We will be sending a regular email where we pair a few recipes with some of our wines from Slurp.
The wine and food pairing has been done by the intrepid Peter Horton via the Instagram page @catererchronicles. Peter has many years of wine buying and restaurant experience and is well placed to match these excellent dishes with some of our very best wines.

This week's Wine and Food Pairing comes courtesy of China Tang at The Dorchester. Situated within Mayfair's iconic Dorchester Hotel, China Tang is know for offering some of the most authentic Cantonese food outside of China. Founded by the exuberant, Sir David Tang, the restaurant has become a popular hangout for some of the London's most affluent guests.
China Tang is starting it's Collect and Delivery service from 2nd July. Keep an eye out on their website for more details in the coming days.
If you can't wait that long, make sure you give their stay-at-home recipes a go. We are lucky enough to be able to share three of the restaurant's most popular dishes with you. @catererchronicles has chosen his top Slurp wines to pair alongside these fabulous recipes.
Happy eating and drinking!
Steamed Sea Bass with Chopped Chilli + Vionta Godello Blanco:
One of China Tang's most popular dishes - a fantastic fish recipe that is all about the flavour of the chillis, not the heat. View the full recipe by clicking here
@catererchronicles wine pairing: Vionta Godello Blanco. "I love this grape variety from Spain. It has plenty of pear and stone-fruit flavours with a hint of lemon and balanced with good acidity. It will compliment the chilli but not over power the seabass. Bon Appetit "
................
Stir Fried Beef in Black Pepper + Orube Rioja Crianza:
A China Tang classic that is done better than anyone else west of China. View the full recipe by clicking here
@catererchronicles wine pairing: Orube Rioja Crianza. "This modern, elegant Rioja made with Tempranillo grapes has the balance of ripe red fruits, chocolatey notes on the palette and gentle oak to enhance the flavour coupled with soft tannins. It will go so well with this peppery beef dish. A match made in heaven!"
.................
Butterflied Tiger Prawn Toast + Chateau L'Arnaude Mediterannée Rosé:
Often simplicity is best. This refined prawn toast is easy to make and delicious to eat. View the full recipe by clicking here
@catererchronicles wine pairing: Chateau L'Arnaude Mediterannée Rosé. "This lovely rosé combines fresh summer fruits with a hint of citrus and spice making a clean and crisp wine that will compliment the prawns. A perfect East meets West alliance!"
