The Forno family have been winemakers in Piedmont since the mid-1600's, and today, Il Falchetto is run by fourth generation brothers Giorgio, Fabrizio and Adriano. The estate itself is based in the small town of Santo Stefano Belbo on the banks of the Tanaro river, and owns vineyards either side of this, across both the Langhe and Monferrato hills.

This is a dry, crisp white wine produced with 100% Arneis grapes. The sandy soil and the particular microclimate of the area on the left bank of the Tanaro river give this wine intense mineral and fruity notes with a beatifully floral nose. On palate it is fresh, persistent, and strengthened by a fair acid. It goes very well with fish and hors-d'oeuvres. Drinking best now but can age up to 3 years.

Again a bit sharp, I suggest use as a wine with food only. Does not have the subtlety nor the florial quality I would expect of an Langhe Arneis. Then again, "Arnies" in the local Piemontese dialect, means little rascal, as it is particularly hard to grow well.
One wag said of the variety: also grown in Oregon; unsuccessfully.
