The Strub family has been making wine in Nierstein since 1710. Today, this small family owned winery is run by Sebastian and his father Rudolf, who focus on lower yields to produce higher quality grapes. In 2013 Sebastian Strub was voted Germany’s best young winemaker by the German Society of Agriculture (DLG). The grapes for the 2015 Nierstein Riesling Trocken were grown on different sites around Nierstein, some on limestone and clay, others on red slate. This blend of different soils combines the fruitiness of the limestone and the power of the red slate in the wine.
