Knockando distillery, meaning ‘little black hill’, is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery, located in Knockando, Moray, Speyside. It is unlike many Speyside distilleries in terms of its single malts and the way to produce it. Part of the barley Knockando uses in its whiskies is gently peated which increases the array of aromas but the peat used is not so much that it would overpower the floral and fruity aromas.
Knockando 12 Year Old is especially delicate, fruity and subtle Speyside: smooth but complex layers of flowery, nutty and slightly smoky notes.
"Delicate and fragrant on the nose, with hints of malt, worn leather, and hay. Quite full in the mouth, smooth and honeyed, with gingery malt and a suggestion of white rum. Medium length in the finish, with cereal and more ginger."
