The Forno family have been winemakers in Piedmont since the mid-1600's, and today, Il Falchetto is run by fourth generation brothers Giorgio, Fabrizio and Adriano. The estate itself is based in the small town of Santo Stefano Belbo on the banks of the Tanaro river, and owns vineyards either side of this, across both the Langhe and Monferrato hills.
Produced with 100% Dolcetto grapes, this is one of the best examples we have ever tasted. The finished wine is matured for three months in large oak barrels before release, creating a really well-balanced and delicious fruity red.
This is a vibrant ruby colour, with an intense and elegant style. There is a wonderful ripe fruity perfume, the palate is fruity and fresh, with lots of juicy black cherry fruit, and almond notes persisting on the finish. Enjoy while youthful, although this is a step up from most examples of Dolcetto and can age up to 5years.more ↓ less ↑
