"A full-bodied shiraz of the highest quality"- 97 points - James Halliday Australian Wine Companion
"...a battle of epic proportions"- James Halliday Australian Wine Companion
“one of my favourite wineries" - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
The famous Heysen Walking Trail runs along the western border of the Rolf Binder estate and the Shiraz vineyard adjacent to it is home to some special vines planted in 1972. The Heysen Shiraz is one of the flagship wines for the Rolf Binder brand, first made in 1989.
The nose offers aromas of pain grillé, pencil lead, truffle, espresso, black cherry, and blueberry. Ripe, juicy berry and spice flavours with well-rounded tannins and a good, lengthy finish. A luscious, full-bodied wine that is flavourful and balanced whilst maintaining a sense of elegance. Drink now to 2048.
“Deep, vivid colour; a complex and enticing bouquet has licorice, spice, black fruits and oak all competing for space, a battle of epic proportions on the palate. A full-bodied shiraz of the highest quality, not only thanks to its power, but also its balance and harmony, oak and tannins precisely weighted.” - 97 Points James Halliday, 2016 Wine Companion
“one of my favourite wineries (whose) offerings are never excessively oaked, possess extraordinary ripe, concentrated fruit, great individuality.” - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
